Your First Group Run Starts Here
You don’t have to be fast or experienced to find your people. Use this guide to choose a run group, prepare for your first meetup, and enjoy the experience.
1. Find a run that fits your schedule
Start with our running club directory. Browse by city or running day, then open a club’s profile for details. Some schedules and meeting points are still being confirmed, so check the club’s Instagram before leaving.
2. Ask about pace and distance
Not every group runs at the same speed. Ask whether the run welcomes beginners, whether walking or run/walk intervals are okay, how far the route goes, and whether someone stays with newer runners. Choose a distance you can comfortably manage.
3. What to bring
- Comfortable running or walking shoes
- Water, especially in warm weather
- Weather-appropriate clothing and sun protection
- A charged phone and any personal essentials
- Reflective gear or a light for low-light runs
4. On the day
- Confirm the meeting point and time directly with the club.
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early and introduce yourself to the organizer.
- Ask about the route, regrouping points, and traffic safety.
- Run at your own pace. It’s okay to slow down, walk, or turn back safely.
- Follow the organizer’s instructions and respect paths, other runners, and neighbors.
5. Keep coming back
Every runner starts somewhere. Trying a few groups can help you find the schedule, pace, and community that feels right for you.
